University-Industry Meetings: Infrastructure, Ports and Marine Renewable Energy


The plenary sessions on June 29th will involve the following speakers:



Mr. Manuel Reigosa, Chancellor of the University of Vigo

Manuel Reigosa has a PhD in Biology and he is a Professor of Plant Physiology at the Faculty of Biology in Vigo. He was the Dean of the Faculty of Science and the Vice-Chancellor of Research in Vigo. He is currently the Chancellor of the University of Vigo, the author of more than 100 publications and the editor of several journals included in the JCR.



Mr. Xosé H. Vázquez, Professor of Business Organisation at 
ECOBAS-UVigo, and Principal Investigator of "Sherpa do Mar".
Xosé H. Vázquez coordinates the REDE research group and works at the intersection of business strategy and operational excellence. He has published in top level journals such as Harvard Business Review, Journal of Operations Management or Organization Science, and has been able to collaborate with public institutions such as the Inter-American Development Bank, companies such as Syngenta or PSA, or technology centres such as TECNALIA.



Mr. Tiago Morais. Responsável do Grupo Tecnologias para o Mar. Instituto de Ciência e Inovação em Engenharia Mecânica e Engenharia Industrial.

Tiago Morais is a Senior Engineer, Head of the Sea Technologies Group at INEGI. He has a Master’s degree in Electrotechnical Engineering and Computers – Renewable Energy area of specialisation, from the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP). He has experience in managing and executing innovation and research projects of funding programs. He has coordinated and participated in a significant number of national and European projects with partners from the industry and the scientific field, in the technologic development area for the Blue Economy sector. His work has been published over the years in several national and international strategic documents and scientific journals with high impact value.



Mr. 
Francisco Taveira Pinto. Professor at the Faculty of Engineering, University of Porto.


Francisco Taveira Pinto is a Professor of Hydraulics, Water Resources and Environment, and Coastal Engineering and Port Engineering, at the Department of Civil Engineering (DEC) of the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP). He is the Deputy Director of the DEC, the Director of the Hydraulics Laboratory and the President of the Board at the Institute of Hydraulics and Water Resources of the FEUP. He is a specialist in Hydraulics and Water Resources by the Ordem dos Engenheiros (association representing professional engineers in Portugal).



Mr. Carlos Botana Lagarón. Head of the Sustainability Department of the Port Authority of Vigo.

Carlos Botana Lagarón is the President of the European Sea Ports Organisation (ESPO) and the Head of the Sustainability Department at the Port of Vigo. He is a PhD student in Climate Change, he has a Master’s degree in Marine Sciences and more than 20 years of experience in the management of the commercial, fishing and port environment at the Port of Vigo. He has worked on more than 16 European projects about environment and development, through several programs (FP7-THEME 7, Life, Life +, Feder, among others). He is an expert in environmental implementation and in quality and safety systems and a member of the Sustainability and Development Committee of the ESPO since 2013. He worked at Soluziona Calidad y Medio Ambiente, being the project leader of public administration projects and ports projects such as Port of Las Palmas, Port of A Coruña, Port of Ferrol, Port of Vilagarcía, Port of Vigo, among others.



Mr. Ruben Eiras. Coordinator for Blue Economy Entrepeneurship, Innovation, Investment and Financing. Fórum Oceano.

Ruben Eiras is currently responsible for coordinating national and international services and projects in the areas of entrepreneurship, blue economy investment and financing, and business and technological innovation at Fórum Oceano. Previously, he was Director-General for the Policy of the Sea, and advisor to the Minister of the Sea, Ana Paula Vitorino, for Innovation, Industry and Energy (XXI Constitutional Government of Portugal). Doctorate in History, Defense and International Relations from the Higher Institute of Labor and Business Sciences – Lisbon University Institute and Military Academy, Ruben Eiras also held the position of Science and Technology Manager in the Research and Technology Department at Galp Energia, having also been Director of the Energy Security Program of the Luso-American Foundation for Development.




Mr. 
Xoán Martínez. KALEIDO Ideas & logistics. CEO.

Xoán Martínez has a BBA from the University of Wales (Caixanova Business School, currently IESIDE), Executive MBA from ESADE, ECASBA degree from the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers in London, and other certifications related to International Trade and Logistics & Transport.

He is currently CEO of the KALEIDO group of companies, a global logistics operator. He is a professional with experience developed around International Trade, Logistics, Transport and Innovation, highlighting in this sense different projects such as the definition and implementation of the Internationalization of KALEIDO or the diversification of the client-sector portfolio of KALEIDO Ideas & Logistics.
He holds the position of President of the Galician Logistics Cluster and is a regular speaker in different forums in Europe and North America, in fields related to International Trade, Transport & Logistics and Innovation.




Ms. Yolanda Falcón García, Director of Investment Management at Xesgalicia SGEIC S.A

Yolanda Falcón García is an Executive with 20 years of experience in Venture capital and she is specialised in financing scientific technology companies emerging in universities and public research centres. She is currently the Director of Investment Management at Xesgalicia and she was previously the Director of Investment at Unirisco and Uninvest. She has more than 15 years of experience in investing in technology-based companies basing on research results in the nanotechnology and new materials sector, the medical device sector, the biotechnology sector and the agro-food sector.


Mr. Fabio Represas Novoa. Magallanes Renovables. Project Manager

Fabio Represas Novoa is an Economist with more than 5 years of experience in project development and international trade in Asia and in Europe. Fabio joined Magallanes as Project Manager in 2019, being responsible for the financial management of the several European projects where the company participates, and for the preparation and management of R&D proposals.



Mr. Enrique M. Mallón. Secretary General of Asime

Graduate in Law from the University of Santiago de Compostela. He has specialised with a Master's Degree in Business Consultancy, a Master's Degree in Management of Business Organisations (both from IESIDE Business Institute), and an SMP Senior Management Program (IE-Instituto de Empresa).

Currently, he is the Secretary General of the Association of Metal Industries and Associated Technologies of Galicia (ASIME), coordinator of the Galician Offshore Energy Group (GOE), President of the Galician Aeronautical Consortium (CAG) and also President of the Federation of Users of the Port of Vigo (FUPV). He is also General Manager of the Mindtech International Fair and Secretary of the Board of Directors of SERCOMETAL and of the Vigo Naval Repair Centre (CRNV).
